Fauna

Rich in a wide variety of animal life, Taerek is home to numerous deer, elk, and wild boar, as well as bears, chamois, wild cats, otters, badgers, weasels, foxes, and a fair number of wolves and axe beaks. Rats, mice, bats, squirrels, and rabbits are also found in abundance, as well as a variety of snakes, lizards, turtles, toads, frogs, and salamanders that hug the damp earth and wetlands. Insects and similar vermin, such as spiders, ticks, scorpions, centipedes, wasps, hornets, bees, slugs, mosquitoes, moths, caterpillars, butterflies, and beetles are often found in large numbers, sometimes numbering in the hundreds and thousands, and many grow to exceptionally large size. Its rivers and lakes, though few in number, are rich in fish, especially trout, catfish, and bass, with a fair number of waterfowl, and its skies are home to numerous hawks, falcons, eagles, owls, magpies, and ravens.
