Undermere

Located several miles south of the domain’s central core, the Undermere is not an actual lake, but rather a vaguely rectangular-shaped cavern in which the confluence of several small rivers collects into a pair of massive sinkholes and backs up as it drains underground, subsequently feeding many of the region’s various wells and waterways. Approximately four and a third miles long, and about three-quarters of a mile wide, with a maximum depth of about sixty-two feet, and heated somewhat by nearby geothermal runoff, its waters are generally clear and temperate with a faint blue-grey hue, and are rich in rainbow and brook trout, as well as northern pike, catfish, eels, and yellow perch, and a fair number of freshwater crustaceans. Including the makeshift lake, the northernmost sinkhole has a maximum depth of two-hundred and six feet, whereas the southernmost sinkhole has a maximum depth of one hundred and eighty-eight feet, and are separated by a distance of approximately two miles.
